Marie-Josée Jacobs, Minister for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs, signs multi-year agreements with the GAVI Alliance and the Global Fund
On 27 October 2010, the Minister for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs of Luxembourg, Marie-Josée Jacobs, and the interim Chief Executive Officer of the GAVI Alliance, Helen Evans, signed at the GAVI Secretariat in Geneva a multi-year agreement covering the period 2011-2015, designed to help protect millions of children against vaccine preventable diseases.
"This welcome new multi-year contribution from Luxembourg represents a strong endorsement of our mission, which, for the next 5 years, is to immunize more than 240 million children, "said Ms.Evans.
Minister Jacobs also signed a multi-year agreement for 2011-2013 with Michel Kazatchkine, Executive Director of the Global Fund against AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. For Professor Kazatchkine, "the decision by Luxembourg to commit resources through a multi-year agreement is a sign of confidence in the Global Fund, and enables both predictable and flexible funding."
